Tom Dolby

Principal

Tom is a filmmaker and the founder of Water’s End Productions. He wrote and directed the feature films Last Weekend (IFC/Sundance Selects, 2014), starring Patricia Clarkson, and The Artist’s Wife (Strand Releasing, 2020), starring Lena Olin and Bruce Dern. Tom and Water’s End were the first outside investors, four years before the film was released, in the Academy Award^®-winning Call Me By Your Name, on which Tom served as an Executive Producer. He is the author of four novels, including the San Francisco Chronicle bestseller The Trouble Boy, about a young screenwriter. His writing has also appeared in The New York Times, The Village Voice, and the San Francisco Chronicle. As a stand-up comedian, Tom has performed at venues including the Hollywood Improv and Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club in Las Vegas. A passionate advocate for the preservation of film history, Tom is a member of the board of trustees of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. Born in London and raised in San Francisco, he is a graduate of Yale University, where he earned his B.A. in the history of art with a focus on 20th-century photography. Tom lives in Los Angeles with his partner, Spencer Alcorn, their two daughters, and too many dogs.

Susanne Filkins

Head of Production

As a Producer and Head of Production for Water’s End, Susanne handles all aspects of physical production, as well as playing an active role in the development process for new material. Susanne was a producer on The Artist’s Wife (Strand Releasing, 2020), starring Lena Olin and Bruce Dern, and Sid is Dead (Vertical Entertainment, 2023). She was also an Executive Producer for the Julia Ormond thriller Reunion and the Tribeca Film Festival sensation Little Woods, directed by Nia DaCosta and starring Tessa Thompson and Lily James. Her Executive Producer credits include It Happened in L.A., The Price, and The House of Tomorrow. She was also a Co-Executive Producer for Matt Tyrnauer's acclaimed documentary Scotty: The Secret History of Hollywood. Notably, Susanne was an Associate Producer on the Academy Award®-winning Luca Guadagnino film Call Me By Your Name, participating early on in its journey towards production. Susanne was an Executive Producer on the comedy special Samantha Hale: Horror Nerd (Comedy Dynamics, 2025), shot at the Hollywood Improv. She got her start in the entertainment business as an A&R Production Manager at Geffen Records in Los Angeles, where she helped produce and manage multi-platinum recording artists. She lives in Los Angeles with her daughter.
